 Sloth Aarboreal mammal of tropical America. The three toed sloth or ai (Bradypus) diets almost exclusively on leaves, buds, and stems of a tropical relative of the mulberry breed. The two toed sloth or unau (Choloepus) has a less restricted and vegetarian diet.
Sloths sleep, eat, and travel through the forests suspending themselves upside-down and clinging to brunches with their powerful curved claws and their fore and hind limbs . To camouflage them in the forest algae grows on their long hair making them very hard to be seen by other animals. At one time huge ground sloths were Common. |
