bowerbirdBower bird Any of several species of birds native to Australia and New Guinea which build courtship displays and as a playground, made of arbor of sticks or grasses . Some of which are large ( up to 9 ft. high ) while others of like small cabins or tents or runaways .

The gardener bower bird makes a lawn around its bower. Colored stones, shells, for this, flowers, and other bright objects, which are replaced when they become withered or worn, are used to decorate lawns of the bowers. The satin bower bird prefers blue decorative articles. The nest is built by the female away from the bower. The birds are crow like and lack the snowy plumage of the related bird of paradise.
